Christ came to bring life
overflowing victory
keep your weapon sharp

We do have an enemy, and he has only evil plans for humanity. 1 John 10:10 tells us he comes to steal, kill and destroy. This morning I looked this verse up in all of my German translations. The Elberfelder translation is below.

Der Dieb kommt nur, um zu stehlen und zu schlachten und zu verderben. Ich bin gekommen, auf daß sie Leben haben und es in Überfluß haben. -Johannes 10,10

Literally: The thief comes only to steal, to slaughter and to ruin or corrupt... Wow! Slaughter is much more evocative a word than kill. Satan doesn't just want you dead, he wants to slaughter you. He doesn't just want to destroy you, he wants to ruin and corrupt you.

The good news is we have the greater One living inside us! We are soldiers and we need to take our responsibility seriously. We need to stay sharp and ready with the Word. Stay in the bunker of obedience to the Lord. When we step outside the bunker we are in danger of getting hit by the shrapnel of the enemy.

I have such a strong urge to exhort Christians to WAKE UP! Tribulations are not optional. Jesus said: "In this world you WILL have trouble, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world." Coasters are not overcomers. They are collateral damage. I don't mean to be harsh, but it is so important to stay saturated with the word and prayer. There is no neutral in this Christian walk. You are either moving forward or you are moving backward. You are either inside or outside of the bunker of obedience.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower.
The righteous run into it and they are safe.

Stay safe. Colossians 1:27-29,

And "Ueberfluss" is more evocative than "abundance" too, much clearer. Bitte mehr auf Deutsch weil es mir gefaellt.
