God is my portion
Ever present help and strength
I live without fear

New season. Stretching. Leaning on the Lord's strength because I know I need it. That's how things have been looking from where I sit. Praying in the Holy Spirit has been such a comfort and help to me. It's available to every believer who asks. The word says the Holy Spirit is our helper. (John 14:16) Romans 8:14 says: "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God."

Not every Christian is utilizing this amazing gift we've been given. It's easy to get our eyes on circumstances, urgent projects, world news.... There are so many things that can distract us from hearing the still small voice of the Spirit of God. Resist the weapons of mass distraction and set time aside daily to be still before the Lord. He's ready to give you direction when you make it a point to ask Him for it and then give Him the opportunity to answer you.

Listening is a skill that can be developed and improved. Most often God speaks to us through His written word. Make it a point to make the Bible the first thing you look at each morning. Start with a simple prayer asking God to speak to you from His word. Then read. When something catches your interest or "jumps off the page" at you, pause and read that part again. That's God speaking to you. Don't assume every person is stirred up by the same passages that you are. God speaks to each of us exactly where we are and gives us exactly what we need. If you need some ideas of where to start, try one of the passages below.

Listen: Acts 10:34-47, 1 Peter 4:1-19
