As I wait on You
God of grace and strength
Change and renew me.
-Isaiah 40:31, 1 Peter 5:10
Yesterday I felt like a boxer in the ring getting pounded on the ropes. The starting bell was my alarm clock and the round went until the first bell of my first hour class. Thank God our instructor had us worship and praise God for several minutes before he started teaching. It revived my spirit. I needed renewal BIG TIME!
During my classes and as I headed home, I noticed other people on campus looking the way I felt. Folks that usually had a sparkle and a smile looked like someone just punched them in the gut. The devil is a liar! He's defeated, but he'll still sucker punch you if he can - and he loves to hit below the belt. He's not a clean fighter. He's a liar and the father of lies. The attack on me was an outrageously obvious prod from the enemy. Yet it was a historically weak area and it still stung.
The good news is two-fold. First, the enemy doesn't attack people who are doing nothing. The fact that you feel like you're getting pounded means you are in the fight. Don't quit. You are impacting eternity for good and the devil doesn't like it. Too bad for him!! Second, God is the source of our strength and He never runs dry. Be determined not to stay down. Sing a song to God about how good He is. Find a scripture to personalize and meditate on for two minutes in the morning about His overwhelming goodness toward you. Pray in the Holy Ghost in the car on your way to work or school. Be aggressively joyful! God inhabits our praise and His joy is our strength!
It's a rigged fight. You win every time. Keep answering the bell and you cannot lose! God loves you. Nehemiah 8:10, Psalm 103
