Neither Jew nor Greek
when you stand before the throne
on whom do you call?
-Romans 10:12-13
There aren't any Baptists in heaven.
This morning during prayer, my high school youth group leaders came to mind. They are in the great cloud of witnesses in heaven, along with many others I look forward to seeing again. I imagined those two cheering me on from the heavenly grandstand. “I don't know if they'll approve of this praying in tongues stuff,” I thought with a smile. That's when I realized they're not Baptist anymore, they're just heavenly citizens.
There are no Baptists or Methodists or Pentecostals or Charasmatics in heaven. There aren't any Catholics or Jews. The only people who live in heaven are those who are in Christ. That includes people who choose a denominational label for themselves here on earth, but when we are in heaven labels won't matter. When we get there the things that separate us will fade away and disappear in the overwhelming, glorious light of the One who has no shadow or shade of turning. That's exciting!
Unfortunately not everyone will be in heaven. Those who reject Christ reject their only way in to eternal life. Regardless of the earthly label you choose (or was chosen for you), make sure you're not just a good, upstanding member of your denomination.. Make sure you are hidden with Christ in God. Jesus is the door of salvation. If you don't enter by the Door, you're walking off a cliff into a dark, Godless eternity. God has no pleasure in this. He's not willing that any should perish, yet some will by their own choosing.
Choose Christ! Galatians 3:28, John 10:7-11
